One week later, a week of some disappointments. Several e-mails sent about hanging out and keeping in touch went unanswered, or answered very late. It's a good thing that I have plenty of things to keep me occupied with! There was a magnificent birthday dinner at Bitsuteki for my roommate, and Xmortis on Friday. The night started slowly, with Sara and I barely recognizing anyone, but eventually some familiar faces appeared, and everything ended on a very contented note. Not to mention, Rocking out until about 5 in the morning!
Saturday I saw a friend of mine realize a long time dream of opening up his own gym. Crossfit Fenway is just down the street from Machine, which lends itself to some really funny scenarios. I went to the demonstrations, came home for dinner, then back out with theamazingJB and Pax Industria for the evening cocktail reception and fire spinning. Lots of hugs and happiness all around me. We ended the night in Natick, where Pax's GPS came to the rescue after my map failed me. Chris' apartment was very cozy, and the food was amazing, if far from healthy! Our night ended early (all night rock star behavior will do that to you). This time our neighbor's were the ones having an epic party all night long. Turnabout is fair play after all, and I didn't need to be anywhere.
Sunday was an abbreviated DND session, generating new characters (oh nameless war mage, you have so little time left already), then heading home for cleaning and painting. Monday could have been a very busy day, but I still had sleep to catch up on, and all my nights this week are spoken for in some way: game, movies, holiday and birthday parties. Let's not even get into the business of the weekend yet!

And yes, I am listening to it on the website and deciding that this is well worth paying for and owning.

Hey guys,
Times are a little tough, and I'm trying to make a few ends meet. To that end, I'd like to offer my mint condition Roland JP-8000 synth up for grabs for $250 firm. The synth is still in showroom new condition when I bought her, was always covered with a professional cover and was stored on a professional stand.
The stand is phenomenal, is a quick-lok, and holds two synths. Happy to let that go for $80.

UPDATE! Synth is sold!

I can't fucking sleep. The excruciating neck pain, which may or may not be a derivative of the flu, is killing me.
Time to see if I can cash in a year-old script for Percs at Target. I just can't deal with this shit anymore. Just pump me full of drugs til I don't give a fuck anymore. This is insane.

On Tuesday, we played a gig at Church on Kilmarnock Street in Boston. Our mascot, Stay Puft, was kidnapped and held for ransom by the headlining band, The Brooklyns (http://www.myspace.com/thebrooklynsban d).
He was returned unharmed on Thursday to Sans Nomenclature's guitarist, Leon Rich, at Sally O'Brien's Pub. Stay Puft has apparently decided to walk the dark path of debauchery. He has now taken up smoking (inside of clubs, no less, which is a grave travesty!)
On the up and up, the writing process for SN is going swimmingly. We are going into the studio on Sunday, December 20th, to record a 3-song EP, which will feature "Get Off the Dole" and a few covers. You know...something for the press kit and all.
I have written the lyrics and melody line for a new song, "Our Lady of Sorrows". Leon is currently working on the music for this.
We are doing a FREE SHOW show for all of you this coming Thursday (DECEMBER 17th) at 9:00 PM at the following location:
Sally O'Briens
345 Somerville Avenue (Union Square Area)
Somerville, MA 02143
Oh, and did I mention that it's free? Yeah, free. As in, no cost. Come hang with us.
Other upcoming gig dates:
12/26 @ Dodge Street in Salem
1/14 @ The Cantab Lounge in Cambridge
1/23 @ Copperfield's in Boston (Fenway Park area)
4/11 @ The Middle East (my annual birthday bash!)

<33 to you all!
<33 to you all!
For some reason, I didn't suspect that my parents would feel unhappy about not being a part of tomorrow. While they haven't come out and said anything less than their congratulations, thoughts, love, and happiness about my happiness... I'm beginning to suspect that they really want to be there. Perhaps I should have just known that they would, but it didn't really seem to be something to be a big deal for them to be at.
I've explained best as I can why we're doing it like we're doing it, assuring them that in June (most probably that month), there'll be something to celebrate with friends and family, but I hope that they don't feel slighted or like I don't want them there. I'd actually quite like them there, but with the overall plan and scale.... doesn't work out.
Tonight is my last night as Megan Fadgen. :-) Come tomorrow night at this time, we'll be in Montreal as Romans. And I am so happy that I will be officially, completely merged with this creature that I adore and love so much. And when it all comes down to it, that's really what tomorrow is all about and why there aren't any guests or a party and a DJ spinning the Electric Slide. We wanted to ensure that the actual special day didn't lose any meaning in the everything else. Trying to plan it any other way just didn't feel right.

Hey guys! Just want to give you the Heads Up; Machine informs me that UNDERWORLD's done, over, kaput, gone to join the Choir Invisible. Specifics were not specific; I suspect it boiled down to headcount.
I'm very, very proud of what we accomplished over the past year and for everyone's help for making the night possible!! Now that I've got that under my belt, it's time for New Night Number Two....

The past two years I finally started getting these "best of the year" lists down. So now these "best of the '00s" are popping up everywhere, and as interesting as they were, I thought I'd take a stab at it. I took one look at my 960 reviews on the IMDb, started going down the '00s one-by-one, and it was somewhere in the D's when I was separating movies by feature length, short film, short film compilations, straight-to-DVDs, and short film omnibuses (AKA Animatrix, Paris, je t'aime), that I suddenly remembered that I only started reviewing stuff on IMDb about three years ago. So that's seven years of cinema I've not reviewed, and a lot of my favorite movies aren't reviewed because I don't often review movies I rewatch, and ....
AND none of that matters one bit. The point is, are you people fucking crazy?! Arbitrarily assigning value judgments on the bajillions of movies that come from every last crack of the Earth per travel around the sun is weird enough, we've gotta care about DECADES? Ten whole revolutions? Holy crap!
Movies made this year don't even look a whole lot like movies made in 2001. 28 Days Later... is 2002 and, at the time, was some bada-big high tech digital cameras (what are these "miniDV" cams everybody's speaking about? OooooOOO weird jerky imagery, very effective!) and now you get Burn after Reading (2008) looking crisp and clear on a prosumer camera with less than half a thought. The Golden Compass is not even mentioned for its digital environment rendering and the fact that half the time, the characters were in green screen space, but everybody was getting their panties in a bundle over Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, remember that?
I'm out. You people are insane. Can you really, honestly judge the best performances of the decade against each other? The best editing? The best "foreign film"? The best "indie film"? Shit, I was going through my IMDb list and was all like, Jurassic Park isn't 2000s? And A Lot Like Love is? I still remember being in the theatre for Jurassic Park as if it was yesterday and I had completely forgotten that I've ever seen A Lot Like Love.
Maybe it's because I'm only 23 and not a lifeless reporter who has been carefully logging every film he's watched for the past decade. Maybe it's because I don't love film as much as some of the people on the communities that I visit where they can pull together the best 20 Ugandan films from the past decade.
Or maybe it's because I have a goddamned life. Which is why, of course, I'm ranting about such issues here.
We'll see how things are going when I'm 33. Maybe then I'll have some stunning codex of 2010s films and their comparative quality to lay out fer ya then.
'Til then, I should have a perfectly acceptable best of 2009 list when, you know, the year actually ends. And, like previous years, it's a "Best of 2009 films--actually watched in 2009." Because I'm not done watching movies from this year and cannot state with any authority that something amazing was made in Kuwait that'll blow all the rest out of the water--once it finally shows here.

I dyed my hair black again on Monday. Why? A 1,001 reasons that I'll tell you about if you're really interested ;), but what I'm curious about right now is this....
As always, some dye got on my skin along my hair line/forehead. I've been scrubbing with soap, shampoo, facial wash, etc. and it's slowly, slowly cleaning up. I Googled some options (http://www.associatedcontent.com/artic le/43318/how_to_remove_hair_dye_from_ski n.html?cat=69), but want to know what you suggest? I'm getting married on Friday and we're having some pictures taken. I plan on wearing my hair in some sort of bun, but don't want an abnormal-looking hairline in my pictures.
Suggestions please? :)
